This data analysis project was all done in Excel from a bike sales dataset.

Data Wrangling

This is a big fancy word that simply means transforming raw data into usable data. This dataset was very clean and did not require to much prep work. I took just a few step to clean the data.

  1. All duplicate rows were removed.
  2. Edit the marital status column to full words; M for Male and F for Female. The same was done to the marital status column to make M Married and S to Single. This is not necessarily and error but it makes it very clear for any non technical user who does not understand the abbreviation.
  3. In the income column I removed the decimal places. It is also a good idea to remove the currency sign especially if the data will be used on SQL.
  4. In the age column, I created age brackets to make it easier to work with the data.

Creating Pivot Tables and Charts

Once the data was all clean an ready, I went ahead and created various pivot tables and charts. All the pivot tables and charts created helped to address the KPI’s(Key Performance Indexes) of the project.

We look at the bike sales against average income, commute distance, job types, age, marital status and education level.

Data Analysis Dashboard

A data analysis dashboard was then created and various slicers added. The slicers make the dashboard interactive and responsive. I choose colors carefully to ensure that the dashboard is easy on the eyes, capturing the attention of the stakeholders while driving the point home.

From the analysis, the client can now make informed decisions that will help the company serve their clients better and increase their bottom-line.
